A Little About Me

I'm Karine Mabroukeh, a creative writing and publishing graduate with a passion for language, storytelling, and the art of bringing words to life. My experience spans research editing, creative writing, publishing projects, and marketing, giving me an appreciation for both the creative and practical sides of publishing. I enjoy working with words to make writing clearer, more compelling, and more effective while preserving what makes each writer's voice unique. Whether I'm refining a manuscript, reviewing research, or developing a publishing project, I approach each piece with curiosity, attention to detail, and a genuine appreciation for the work behind it.
My Approach to Editing
I believe good editing doesn't change a writer's voice; it helps that voice be heard. Editing is about more than correcting grammar or polishing sentences. It means understanding what a writer wants to communicate, recognizing what a piece needs, and helping its ideas reach the right audience. I'm particularly interested in the relationship between language, identity, and representation, and I value stories that introduce readers to different perspectives and experiences. I hope to contribute to a publishing industry that makes room for voices and stories that deserve to be heard.
Beyond the Edit
My love of language extends into my own creative writing, particularly poetry and fiction. My poetry chapbook, Roots and Faith, explores Palestinian-Muslim identity, family, and faith. Writing and publishing my own work has shaped how I approach editing, deepening my appreciation for the thought and care behind every piece of writing.
Where I'm Headed
I'm interested in copy editing, line editing, and editorial production, with a goal of working closely with writers and their manuscripts. As I continue to grow in the publishing industry, I hope to combine my attention to detail and love of storytelling to help writers bring their ideas to life while staying true to their voices.
